DUBAI - For the first time in the region, the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), in an expression of its commitment towards keeping aviation in safe hands, launched the Voluntary Occurrence Reporting System (Vorsy) to facilitate the collection of information on actual or potential safety deficiencies that may not be captured by the authority?s mandatory incident reporting system. Vorsy is managed independently of all other reporting systems with the main objective to collect information which will be used to a more proactive and in some cases predictive approach to safety, with the ultimate goal: the prevention of events. Besides, its purpose is not to attribute blame or liability.
“The UAE boasts an excellent passenger and flight safety record, and it has received the highest international safety certification,” said Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General fo GCAA. — Wam, and now the time has come for the UAE to lead large-scale regional initiatives,” said Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of GCAA, on this occasion. “Air safety begins on the ground, and it’s a shared responsibility among passengers, airport staff and the GCAA, and that’s were Vorsy comes in as handy tool which facilitates reporting safety incidents,” he added.View the original article here
