ABU DHABI ? The deadline for the nomination of healthcare professionals for the Abu Dhabi Medical Distinction Award has been extended until September 15. The medical distinction award was launched last month by the Health Authority — Abu Dhabi (HAAD) in an endeavour to raise the level of competency among healthcare professionals, thus resulting in the improvement of the healthcare sector in the emirate. Nomination submission started on July 17 and the deadline previously set by the award committee was on August 29.

Organisations which include government and private hospitals and institutions, universities and medical colleges and voluntary groups are encouraged to nominate one candidate who has excelled in each of the eight categories — Surgical Performance, Clinical Performance, Medical Research, Medical Teaching, Allied Health, Health Administration and Management, Clinical Diagnostics and Laboratory, and Medical Volunteering. Nominees must comprise 50 per cent Emiratis.

The nomination process takes place electronically through www.haad.ae/adma. Four finalists from each category will be invited for a personal interview with the committee. Two of the four finalists from each category will be announced as winners during an Awards Ceremony in November.
