AJMAN ?The Ajman Public Prosecution referred two Asians to the Ajman Criminal Court on charges of human trafficking. The two accused allegedly tried to sell a woman compatriot for Dh5,500, for prostitution. The accused took the woman from Sharjah to Ajman and tried to sell her after taking advantage of her poor financial condition and illegal residential status.
According to the investigation and interrogation records of the police and public prosecution, the Ajman Police received a tip off that an Asian man had housed several women in an apartment in Sharjah and that he was willing to sell one as he was going through financial problems. The police then set up a trap to arrest him red-handed.The police sent a decoy as a buyer on June 5 and the accused agreed to hand over the woman and receive cash in Ajman. CID officers who were observing the transaction arrested the accused while he was receiving the cash.His accomplice, who was watching the process, was also arrested.The first accused was found staying in the country illegally as his residence visa had expired.
